Margo W. R. Steiner is a freelance writer, copy editor and proofreader with over 40 years’ experience. In addition, she offers the following ancillary services: speech delivery coaching, focus group organization and facilitation and college essay advice. Margo also enjoys writing copy that inspires and celebrates—wedding toasts, retirement roasts, wedding vows, and birthday/anniversary poems.
Margo currently serves as speechwriter and crafts op-eds for the president of a major Boston-area university. She has served as senior writer for the New England and Chicago editions of Doctor of Dentistry, and has written for the Maine and New Hampshire edition of MDNews. Her freelance work has appeared in The Boston Sunday Globe, the Christian Science Monitor, Arnoldia, Bonsai Journal, Heidelberg Review, Boston Phoenix, Plants & Gardens, Horticulture, and the Nantucket Enquirer and Mirror, among other publications. She is a former columnist for The Old Farmer’s Almanac Gardener’s Companion (a Yankee magazine publication).
She is a recipient of the Marcia Doehner Award and the award for Outstanding Work (both for poetry) in juried competition at the 2010 Marblehead Festival of Arts, and the winner of the Best in Show Award for fiction at the 2011 festival.
She was one of 40 travel writers and photographers from across the globe selected by the Indian government to participate in a six-week tour of southern India for purposes of marketing the destination. Additionally, she has won five national awards in marketing, special events and program planning from the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education.
